Dr Donald Hay

Emeritus Fellow of Jesus College at the University of Oxford

Donald Hay is Emeritus Fellow of Jesus College at the University of Oxford, and Director of the programme, Developing a Christian Mind. Dr Hay was Fellow and Tutor in Economics at Jesus College from 1970 to 2000. He was appointed the first Head of the Division of Social Sciences in the University, and Professorial Fellow of Jesus College until 2005, and Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university from 2006 to 2007. He specialises in industrial economics, competition policy, and has researched in Brazil, China and the UK. Among his publications is an advanced co-authored textbook, Industrial Economics and Organisation. He has been on the editorial board of Oxford Economic Papers, Journal of Industrial Economics among other journals. He also published Economics Today: A Christian Critique and developed the programme, Developing a Christian Mind, to enable the integration of faith and academic work. He has maintained a long-standing interest in the relationship between economic analysis and a Christian view of human society, and more recently in understanding the Christian evaluation and response to the financial crisis. He is a member of St Andrews church in North Oxford, and a Licensed Lay Minister.
